A weekend date can bring more focus and renewed appreciation for the little and the big gifts as we find time to rest together...
With a day that has already logged 1.5 hours of "catch-up" work by 6:00 am, I am already feeling some dread for a tiring and demanding day meeting needs and problems I am not typically that thrilled to address.
At the same time, I am forcing my thoughts to move towards appreciation. My weekend was filled with many little things that truly highlight the big gifts in my life. The greatest among those was a date with my 7 year old daughter. We found time to rest together. Unfortunately, this date was long overdue, which only makes me appreciate that it finally happened all the more.
Our one-on-one time lasted only 4 to 5 hours, but in reality, I now have memories that will last a lifetime. Now I will tell you that the movie and the dinner were not the most memorable parts of my day, but rather, my quality time with my daughter was the highlight of my week. I praise God for the gift of my daughter and the joy of a lifetime she brings me and my family - that's a pretty big gift that my eyes were opened to with a little dinner and movie.
