1 Timothy 6:6 - "But godliness with contentment is great gain"

It took me some time to really understand what this scripture is actually saying. Once I got it, however, I realized how powerful this one can be "in the moment" of any temptation or sin we may be standing on the verge of submitting to. If you think about "godliness" as any action or behavior that follows God's will, then this verse tells us that we find "great gain" when we are transformed into be content with following His will. When I am tempted by food or lust, literally in the moment, I can recall this verse and it is enough to take me happily (with contentment) towards something better. And guess what happens after the moment of temptation has passed and I have resisted... I feel amazing and empowered and so many other wonderful emotions about my strength in resisting sin. The alternative is that I have yet again broken down and given right in to my fleshly desires, leaving me in a place that has not advanced my walk with Christ in a tangible way. I pray you can find true contentment in actually being godly, following His will, as I know you will find transformational power with this motivation as your engine.
