Matthew 6:25 - "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"
I have this conflict because I know that what He promises is something I long for - a daily life without anxiety and worry.
But with an adult life full of responsibility, worry and anxiety seem to be natural constants.
This quote from Jesus is a stark reminder that we have so much more to live for.
Jesus is reminding us that we can get rid of our worry by trusting in the Creator that put us here on earth. After all, if we remind ourselves that we are made by God who loves us deeply and is with us constantly, who are we to believe He would not take care of us?
For me, my work and my dreams feel extremely stressful. They brings loads of anxiety and worry into my daily thought processes. But meditating on this verse in the middle of that stress brings me a sense of unexplained peace... the peace of Christ. His work in my life becomes tangible in those moments when He lightens my load and eliminates my worry.
Apply This:
1. Read over this verse several times throughout the day for the next 7 days 2. Identify something you have been worrying about 3. Meditate on what Jesus is saying here - live life more freely without the negative influence of anxiety and worry.
